Ready-Made Time Map Postcard

This artwork is a unique ready-made object based on postcard, maps and a clock.
The postcard written in 1912 is an unique archive sent from Ha Noi to New York which gives an historical value to the artwork
A jouney of 100 years, back to Hanoi for the exhibition Air Skylen

This conceptual map is related to the colonialism epoch of  Viet Nam in the early 20th century.
Hanoi is drawn in transparency over an western city ( Paris, New York, … ) meaning the lost of sovereignty at the expense of the western power.
In the same time Hanoi is part now of the world, connected by airmail. This is also the beginning of modernity in the Vietnamese society

The two cities can be also compared just like portraits as the maps are in the same scale. As a person, Hà Noi is holding yet another identity.
