In 1802, Gia Long, the first Emperor of the Nguyễn Dynasty, set Hue as the new capital of the unified Vietnam, because of its central position of the country.
The new capital has been designed in accordance with Eastern philosophy of Feng Shui with the exceptional geographical conditions of the site, including the Perfume River and Ngu Binh Mountain.
