{"id":4690,"date":"2023-10-17T10:13:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T09:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inlen.photo\/?p=4690"},"modified":"2024-03-07T08:17:29","modified_gmt":"2024-03-07T07:17:29","slug":"xem-exhibition-meta-far-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inlen.photo\/vi\/news-events\/xem-exhibition-meta-far-east","title":{"rendered":"XEM Collective Exhibition &#8211; Meta Far-East Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The main idea of the Quang Lam&#8217;s work  in this exhibition is to explore the concept of the Far-East Asia in which Saigon and Singapore were essential nodes for its representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From wikipedia about:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe term first came into use in European geopolitical discourse in the 15th century, particularly the British, denoting the Far East as the &#8220;farthest&#8221; of the three &#8220;Easts&#8221;, beyond the Near East and the Middle East.[..] Significantly, the term evokes cultural as well as geographic separation; the Far East Asia is not just geographically distant, but also culturally exotic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With time and the technological impact, how can the perception of the \u201cFar\u201d Asia remain or evolve, from a geographical point of view to some more diverse perspectives as the historical colonization to the advent of the new virtual space of the metaverse&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quang Lam artworks are based on archives, maps of Asia and photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part 1 &#8211; Maps from Terra Utopia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Historical maps of Asia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The artworks are made from historical maps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Map after Eratosthenes, Greek scholar 2nd century BC: He is particularly known for his evaluation of the circumference of the Earth thanks to a simple calculation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Map of A. Orthelius (1527\u20131598): Ancient 16th-century map of Asia by Abraham Ortelius, published in Thearum Orbis Terrarum, considered the first modern atlas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Map of Messageries Maritimes (1889): Map of the routes of the ocean liners beyond Suez with images from Mr. Barbet&#8217;s personal travel photo album (1907) on this route from Marseille to Haiphong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ready-Made Astrolabes and Collectible Postcards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The constellations maps are presented in relation to postal mail from the beginning of the century which transited by boat between Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terra Utopia Series<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This series was made on the edge of the Pacific (Quy Nhon, Vietnam).<br>We can consider it as fantastic visions of the lands of the Far East on which the cultures and languages of the countries crossed are superimposed. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inlen.photo\/gallery\/art-concept\/terra-utopia\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4617\">More details here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second Part of the exhibition &#8211;
