The fate of the Vietnamese contemporary history can be read through the different names given to this place: Governor’s Palace, Independence Palace, and Reunification Palace. The current building was the residence of the Southern regime and has become a museum since April 30, 1975 when tanks have crashed through its gates.<\/p>\n
For the memorial place, the choice is not made in Hanoi or Hue but in Saigon, as if the need for healing was the strongest for this city. And the 40th anniversary was an opportunity to replay these hours of liberation by a fiction of popular jubilation.<\/p>\n
The iconic location does not lie in the beautiful rooms or living areas whom “vintage” style can be appreciated by nostalgic of the 70s. The bowels of the country\u2019s history where powers game has taken place for over a century are in the basement, gray bunker with armored corridors.<\/p>\n
It remains these communications devices that have served to announce the latest chapter in a concert of bells and operators\u2019 cries of terror seeing with the advancing North Vietnamese troops. They secretly retain the voices of the past and their whispers still resonate as an echo of the sea in the hollow of a shell. The sufferings and joys, betrayals and reunions, the mess and the desire committed in the name of Reunification are not extinguished.<\/p>\n

Le devenir de l’histoire contemporaine vietnamienne peut se lire dans les diff\u00e9rents noms donn\u00e9s \u00e0 ce lieu : Palais du gouverneur, palais de l’Ind\u00e9pendance, palais de la R\u00e9unification. Le b\u00e2timent actuel fut la r\u00e9sidence du r\u00e9gime sudiste et il s’est mus\u00e9ifi\u00e9 depuis ce jour du 30 avril 75 o\u00f9 les tanks nordistes ont emboutis la grille d\u2019entr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n
Pour lieu de m\u00e9moire, le choix s’est impos\u00e9 non \u00e0 Hanoi, ni \u00e0 Hue mais \u00e0 Saigon, comme si le besoin de cicatrisation \u00e9tait le plus fort dans cette ville. Et le 40e anniversaire fut l\u2019occasion de rejouer ces heures de lib\u00e9ration en donnant une fiction de liesse populaire.<\/p>\n
L’endroit embl\u00e9matique ne r\u00e9side pas dans les magnifiques salles ou les espaces de vie que les nostalgiques des ann\u00e9es 70 affectionnent pour son mobilier et son style \u00ab vintage \u00bb. Les entrailles de l\u2019Histoire d’un pays qui fut le th\u00e9\u00e2tre d’un jeu de pouvoirs pendant plus d’un si\u00e8cle se trouvent dans le bunker au sous-sol, gris et parcouru de couloirs blind\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
Il reste ces appareils de communications qui ont servis \u00e0 annoncer le dernier chapitre dans un concert de sonneries et de cris des op\u00e9rateurs voyant avec effroi l’avanc\u00e9e des troupes nord vietnamiennes. Ils conservent secr\u00e8tement ces voix du pass\u00e9 et leurs murmures r\u00e9sonnent encore tel l’\u00e9cho de la mer au creux d’un coquillage. Les souffrances et les joies, les trahisons et les retrouvailles, le g\u00e2chis et le d\u00e9sir commis au nom de la R\u00e9unification ne se sont pas \u00e9teints.<\/p>\n
