Emperor Minh Mang (1820 – 1841) was the second son of Emperor Gia Long, who founded the Nguyen Dynasty.
As any emperor, he planned to build this tomb during his reign but he passed away before the construction was completed in 1843.

The architecture is based on three main parallel axis, the center of which is the Than Dao path. The diverse temples, lakes, pavilions, gardens are distributed along this layout and fit harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.

This gate is protecting the staircase with dragon-shaped handrails  which leads to the tomb of the Emperor.
